Umbria con Me · Assisi

Private Assisi walk, one price per group

A licensed Umbria con Me guide for your party only, from Santa Chiara through the old town to the Basilica of St Francis. Pick it for families and groups: one price covers up to 15 people, so from four adults up it costs less than the shared walk.

Private Assisi Walk with St Francis Basilica

About this experience

Same operator as the small-group walk, different maths. Viator prices this one per group, not per person: $263 for anyone from 1 to 15 travellers. Four adults on the shared tour pay $276, so here you get the guide to yourselves for less. A couple pays about $132 each, still about twice the shared price.

The route starts at the fountain in front of Santa Chiara (the church is introduced outside), then Chiesa Nuova, Piazza del Comune, half an hour at the Temple of Minerva and two 45-minute blocks in the basilica. Because it's private, guides adapt. Recent reviews mention detours to the Carlo Acutis tomb at Santa Maria Maggiore, lunch tips, shelter from a thunderstorm and a slower pace for a guest with a back injury.

Two costs sit outside the price: headsets for the basilica at 3 euro per person (Viator shows them as an extra charge) and a tip. The basilica itself is free to enter. On Sundays, major Catholic holidays, national holidays and on 3 and 4 October, the guide explains the basilica outside and you enter alone, in silence; on 4 October it is closed to visitors.

★★★★★

He customised the tour to our preferences given it was just my family of 4 attending. He provided the life and history of St. Francis and other figures important to the area.

Werner was a great guide for our family of 6 (2 adults and 4 teenagers). He gave us a comprehensive history of Assisi, St. Clare, St. Francis, as well as the opportunity to visit the tomb of Carlo Acutis, and provide us with a wonderful lunch option, too.
